Which airports are we flying out of that you use the climb gradient for?

5% gradient at 250 KIAS would be 1,375 FPM, if I remember my math correctly.
Math is close ... 5 * 250 = 1250. It also assumes no wind; using ground speed accounts for wind.

I think you are confusing degrees with percentages, the latter being what the OP asked for.

What if the desired percentage was 8.7%? What would be your FPM then?

BTW, your example is correct, when the goal is a three degree or 5.24% slope, which is most common for aviation.

Yea, It's %. There are some DP's that have a pretty high climb gradient. Like the Coney and Maspeth climb out of LGA.

Well... Two consecutive Vacancy Notices with CA slots. GTFO of town. That can't be right lol

Got my iPad on the 10th. Granted I haven't done my IBT yet (I know, I know doing it tomorrow lol), but so far the Navtech app and interface has been a truly horrible experience.

I'm on my 2nd trip using my iPad 2 with the software. There's a learning curve, no doubt about it, but I'm not finding it to be awful. I'm not sure Jeppesen electronic would be better. We're all used to the paper and there will be a period of adjustment.

It will make a bit more sense after you do the IBT but mostly you just have to use it. Under "Documents" you will find Navtech info if you hunt a bit. I'm going to go through that with a fine toothed comb to learn how they do things.

We're all used to the 10-2, 10-3, 10-9, 11-1, etc. layout of the Jepps. This is a bit different. I think with time it will become better.

And in the end it will be a lot better than carrying around a 40 lb bag and doing revisions every trip.

Why NavTech as opposed to Jepps? Cost?
