I think it’s due to the money to cover half of payroll. The company still has to cover the other half. Either way half of 460 pilots salary is 230 paid by the government, with the company still having to pay for 230, right now the company is paying for 350ish. Not to even account for the fact those getting recalled will stay FOs. Company is gonna make some decent coin off this round of government gravy

Like I said before, bottom line aka the Dollar is the only thing that matters to the company and not people.
That email or so called “recall” was no consolation; it was a formality to show the government that they’re abiding by what the terms are.
Recall March 2nd then furlough again March 31st lol...it’s such a joke that it’s insulting. Might as well just give us the salt and we’ll rub it on the wound ourselves.
It’s like we’re stray dogs; when someone wants a pup to play with and keep them entertained, they bring it indoors and when they can’t afford to have a pup or it serves no purpose, they throw it out on the street in the rain and abandon it.
I still remember being told in indoc “we’re a family company, we care about our employees.”
Bollocks is my answer to that. It only cares about its survival not us. We can be replaced with another group of 20-something year old CFIs with 1500 hours when this is all over.
Biden can throw out all the money he wants but he can’t work miracles whether you love him or hate him. Demand will only return when the virus is under control and people are back at work earning money that they can then spend confidently which ain’t happening anytime in the next 12 months because of the magnitude of the damage done.
Oh and before someone says “then you should quit”, I probably might consider it if I get an offer elsewhere and I’ve walked out with my money. No such thing as loyalty in today’s world.

It’s amazing how some of you don’t understand how a business operates. They can’t just pay everyone and keep everyone on staff when the need is not there.
It’s not just air wisconsin. It’s every business. Try running one and then when customers stop showing up try to keep paying your staff to sit around and do nothing. Good luck.

”But they deserve it”. “Just take it out of those obscene profits.” “Just raise prices.” (I especially love that last one. Just raise prices on the seats airlines sell, to make them profitable. What’s the problem with that?)
Economics and company financials just don’t get very far on rhetoric.
