Default Dropping trips and adds

I am trying to wrap my head around bidding and schedule manipulation.

Does the company allow you to drop individual legs within a trip or do you have to drop a whole trip?

Can you then add a trip from open time after dropping a segment they allow dropping a segment?

That would be at the company's discretion. They can absolutely approve it. Will they? Probably not. The only thing I've ever seen dropped was as an FO, and it was only one leg on a trip that started in Chicago and ended in Milwaukee (I was helping a friend out), so I didn't have to fly in on the jumpseat. Other than that they really only drop deadheads at the beginning or end of a trip, and even then only the day before, and if staffing is assured for your position.

That being said, dropping individual legs will be much easier than dropping an entire trip. That will almost never happen unless you somehow find your own replacement.

No, no, you got it all wrong. It would look something like this.

"Denied, lack of reserve coverage 3/14

-DA"

Then you'll look and there will be around 20 or 30 spare reserves in base that day.

really? I have less, and multiple times have gotten the last turn on day 4 dropped. I should’ve bought a lotto ticket I guess.

I’m batting 0% for drops, maybe 50% for swaps, and 80% or so for adds.

That's my record more or less. I once was denied an add for lack of reserve coverage -PG. Obviously PG is just reflexively denying everything without even reading the request.

I've never seen an approval from PG...
