Default AWAC announces reduced schedule for April

United Airlines announced this week that they are cutting capacity due to the softening demand for air travel in light of the Coronavirus. Starting in April, United will cut its international schedule by 20% and its domestic schedule by 10%. With this decrease in departures, United also announced hiring and salary freezes along with a voluntary, unpaid leave of absence program. Subsequently, United provided Air Wisconsin with a reduced April schedule and we are in the process of building updated bid schedules for our crewmembers. We don’t know how long this reduction in capacity will last, but can assume it will remain until the demand for air travel returns. We will keep you posted on further developments as they become known.

Thoughts?

I'll take a couple of those 60 hour/month off lines please. Have golfing and fishing to do this summer.

Hopefully it only lasts a few months. I know a little bit of easier schedules would be nice, but not at the expense of keeping the airline stable. It's hard to tell how this will affect the regional market overall.

It'll be like 07-08 all over again. They'll over-furlough and continue to junior man. ... Maybe we could go back to LCAs picking up F/O flying.

nah, they will just build 4 day trips that credit block hours and only give you 12 days off a month

They should take this opportunity to get caught up on staffing.

Since we're low on CAs I would expect them to continue, just guessing/hoping.
