Didn't know it was called "Saul Bass", but I got a kick out of it as well. Tens of millions to make the movie and they can't pull file footage from within the last two decades?

Peel like a banana is right. I remember a few years back parking a Wolf paint job 320 in between two post BK livery jets in ORD. A 757 and a Guppy. The top of the fuselage on each one was almost bare metal. The paint job couldn't have been more than a year old.

Since I had a practice layover, I went to talk to a MX supervisor to inquire how that can be allowed to fly very long due to corrosion. They do track such issues on a part of the aircraft logbook we don't deal with and touch-up was scheduled for both.

Then I asked him which Earl Scheib franchise painted our planes....he laughed out loud saying he couldn't believe the poor quality of the outsourced paint job.

You get what you pay for I guess.

Could Be,, But since it's either paint or Polish as American does it. Paint reduces Drag, so the 700# is really negligable, And as bad as the LAST paint job looked Without primer and peeling OFF ?? It's Has GOT to be an improvement. The added weight of the primer isn't going to change flight Dynamics one bit. We're flying with other World class Airlines and they have Primer on THEIR 747's Have you EVER seen a lousy Singapore Airlines Paint Job? Me Neither! I wish we polished our planes like American.
But there's only ONE "American" and you can't mistake their planes Anywhere!

Saw the 747 in SFO today. It looks ok. Reminds me of when CAL had them too. I'm still in denial about the merger.

I guess that's not a singular problem, you've got a LOT of Company unfortunately. I think on BOTH sides of the company. Be Well!

I always thought the CAL paint job was a good one. Granted, a little boring but crisp and professional.. reminded me of Lufthansa , which is one of the best paint jobs out there.

Of course, I'm sure this isn't our last paint job. One more merger and we'll probably have a completely different look with some weird sounding European name.

Delta's current livery was introduced as part of the merger. I think they win the award for paint changes over the past 10 or so years.
