becoming a pilot with an arest....
just wondering...I had an incident back in february....
my friends and I were filming a movie for school, I had a fake cap gun, and was pointing it towards a sign for a scene. Some random guy driving by thought I was pointing a real gun at him...yes sounds dumb but he called the police and my friends and I got arrested they charged me with assault with dangerous weapon... I went to court and the judge basically laughed and reduced it to just assault..and then he dismissed it and I had to do some community service... I do not have a criminal record, but the incident is still on my regular record...
Now to the question.... Just wondering if this would prevent me from becoming an airline pilot...what would happen during an interview?

Dude, don't sweat it. Many people are going to tell you: Just be upfront and honest in the interview.
And with your specific situation, it's a small dent compared to some of the backgrounds some pilots have. People have been hired with DUIs, felonies, etc... and on the flying side, for example, a friend of mine accidentally landed a twin gear up!!! and was hired at a regional and has since moved onto flying MD-11s!

There are 28 automatic disqualifiers for a safety sensitive position. I've listed them below. Also, I highly recommend you get a certified copy of the disposition of this charge. Although the case was ultimately dismissed the charge will remain on your record, with the disposition reading dismissed. But you really need to know what is written in your record. You can find this at the County Clerk's office at the courthouse.
You'll need to explain it in the interview but like SaabTrash said, be honest and upfront.

Glad you are on here, I have had many people ask me about background checks that are looking to leave, could you PM me with your contact info so I can contact you or they can contact you! I'm pretty sure I met you at the PHX joib fair...It was a great time, when you guys doing another one? As far as me giving your contact info out, Unlike most other places, we'd rather know who's trying to leave and help them out then not know, Probably dumb thinking but oh well!

Whatever you do...don't try to hide it. I teach groundschool and fly for a 121 airline, and we just had a similar situation with a new hire. He had something on his record from 15 years ago, and it was his understanding that it had been removed. He never disclosed it to anyone in the interview process. About the 3rd day of class, his fingerprints were processed and it showed up on his record. Needless to say, he was sent packing after quitting his other job to be there. You can do a background check on yourself, and if you think there is any chance of something being on your record, you would be crazy not to before you apply at an airline. Do the same with your driving record. I had some speeding tix on my record from when I was a young punk. They were SUPPOSED to drop off my record automatically after 5 years. I got a print out from the DMV before I started applying, and there were about 3 tickets ranging from 5-8 years old still on my record. How would that have looked to a prospective employer? I got them removed by filling out a form. Good luck, and don't give up...even if the first couple airlines turn you down.
